Men's Volleyball Player of the Week

Raul Urshela, St. Joseph's

Senior • Middle Blocker • Orlando, Fla.

During a pair of HVIAC games this week that both went to five sets, Urshela recorded a pair of double-doubles, slamming 35 kills (3.5 per set) while bringing up 25 digs (2.5 per set) and stuffing 13 blocks on the defensive end. In the win over Webb, the three-time Player of the Week fell one block shy of a triple double in leading his Bears back from a two-set deficit. During a tightly contested match vs. Yeshiva, Urshela pounded 20 kills and had 11 digs.

Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week

Tuvia Marks, Yeshiva

Sophomore • Middle Blocker • Los Angeles, Calif.

Marks helped lead the Maccabees to a five-set conference win over St. Joseph's putting away 16 kills against only two errors for a .519 hitting percentage. The sophomore also stuffed four blocks in the win in earning his third straight Rookie of the Week honor. For the week, Marks totaled 22 kills (2.0 per set) and eight blocks (0.73 per set). 

Softball Player of the Week

Kayla Applebaum, Yeshiva

Senior • Outfield • Teaneck, N.J.

Over a doubleheader series with John Jay, Applebaum batted .667 (4-for-6) and slugged 1.000 with three runs batted in, two runs, two doubles and a walk. 

Softball Rookie of the Week

Destiny Marino, St. Joseph's

Freshman • Outfielder • Middle Village, N.Y.

Marino had a solid collegiate debut facing some stiff competition, which included a Top 25 ranked team, at the Tucson Invitational Games. The freshman led the Lady Bears batting .400 (4-for-10)  with a double and collecting a hit in four-of-five games played.

Honor Roll

Joseph Lipton, Yeshiva • Men's Volleyball

During the league victory over St. Joseph's, the senior brought up 21 digs and two blocks. On the three-match week, Lipton totaled 10 kills.

Brian Mills, Webb • Men's Volleyball

Mills had 11 kills and four blocks in the five-set match against St. Joseph's.

Kristin Ferrigno, St. Joseph's • Softball

Ferrigno collected three hits, two runs, two walks and a stolen base in St. Joseph's season-opening set at the Tucson Invitational Games.
