HVIAC Players of the Week - April 7

Men's Volleyball Player of the Week

David Cutler, Pratt

Sophomore • Outside Hitter • Calabasas, Calif.

Cutler helped Pratt close out the regular season with a share of the best league record pounding 17 kills with 19 digs, seven aces and one block in a four-set win over Webb.

Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week

Brandon Ryan, Pratt

Freshman • Outside Hitter • Belchertown, Mass.

Ryan wins his fifth Rookie of the Week honor this season dishing out 28 assists with seven digs in a four-set win over Webb.

Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Sergio Yarritu, Pratt

Senior • The Woodlands, Texas

Yarritu went undefeated for the second straight week, helping Pratt improve to 4-0 in conference play with a win over Vaughn in the Cannoneers only match on the week. The senior took a 10-0 victory at No. 1 singles and teamed up with Josh Morgan for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles.

Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week

Nick Minichiello, Pratt

Freshman • Leonia, N.J.

Minichiello wins his second straight Rookie of the Week honor after posting a 10-2 victory at No. 2 singles and an 8-2 triumph at No. 2 doubles in Pratt's HVIAC win over Vaughn.

Softball Player of the Week

Jackie Perillo, St. Joseph's

Senior • Outfielder/Pitcher • Howard Beach, N.Y.

Perillo batted .444 (4-for-9) and slugged 1.111 on the week driving in a team-high eight RBI and scoring seven times as St. Joseph's secured doubleheader sweeps of York and Baruch to extend their winning streak to eight games. All four of the senior's hits were for extra bases, including her first homer of the season against Baruch. In the circle, Perillo struck out nine batters in five innings and picked up her first win of the season in the circle.

Softball Pitcher of the Week

Theresa Armano, St. Joseph's

Freshman • Pitcher • Middle Village, N.Y.

Armano collects back-to-back Pitcher of the Week honors after posting a 2-0 record in the circle with a miniscule 0.78 ERA. In 9.0 innings of work in wins over CUNYAC foes York and Baruch, the freshman allowed just one run on seven hits, striking out seven and walking two. 

Softball Rookie of the Week

Maria Gentile, St. Joseph's

Freshman • First Baseman • Brooklyn, N.Y.

Gentile batted .667 (4-for-6) with one RBI, a double and two walks over a four-game undefeated week for St. Joseph's. In the field, the freshman was perfect in 13 chances. 

Honor Roll

Johghee Lee, Culinary • Men's Tennis

Lee dropped a close 8-2 decision at No. 2 singles at Albertus Magnus.

Nolan Parr, St. Joseph's • Men's Tennis

Parr picked up the lone win for the Bears at borough foe Brooklyn College, rallying after dropping the opening set at No. 3 singles to win 10-8 in the third-set super tiebreaker.

Raul Urshela, St. Joseph's • Men's Volleyball

Urshela had 29 kills and 18 digs in a 1-1 week for St. Joseph's.
