The ACPHS men's basketball team picked up its first victory of the season as the Panthers defeated Word of Life Bible Institute by a score of 77-48 on Thursday evening.
Peter Aiken (Pottersville, NY, North Warren) had game-highs of 22 points and 20 rebounds as the Panthers pulled away in the final 15 minutes to earn the win.
With a height advantage inside, the Panthers dominated the paint as they grabbed 29 offensive rebounds (compared to only 11 for the Huskies). Despite controlling the boards, ACPHS only was up seven points (32-25) at halftime as Word of Life refused to go away. In the second half, the trio of Aiken,
Casey Redfern (Binghamton, NY, Chenango Forks) and
John Tremblay (Schenectady, NY, La Salle Institute) helped extend the lead to a more comfortable margin.
Tremblay scored 13 points, had eight rebounds and dished out four assists while Redfern also scored 13 points and added four steals.
