Touro Upsets Warriors Big In Season Opener

Queens, New York, - The Vaughn College men's basketball team suffered a huge loss in their season opener against Touro College on Tuesday night. Both teams struggled early in the first half to generate offense. Touro made a huge run heading into the break to seperate themelves from the Warriors. The Warriors trailed Touro 47-25 at halftime.

Despite efforts from junior guard Louis Roche (Carteret, NJ) and junior forward Michael Reed (Freeport, NY) the Warriors were unable to climb their way back into the game. Both Roche and Reed finished with 13 points apiece. Roche added five rebounds and dished out a pair of assists. Reed pulled down seven rebounds, dished out four assists and had one steal. 

The Warriors also had contributions from newcomers Fabrizio Dottin (Queens, NY) and Guriqbal Singh (Indianapolis, IN). Dottin had eight points, four rebounds and one block in his first collegiate game. Singh added seven points in his first collegiate action. 

It was a tough loss for the Warriors in their return to collegiate competition. The last time the men's basketball team competed was in February, 2020. The team will look to rebound in their Homecoming game against Webb Institute on Thursday, November 18.
