Men's Soccer Blanked by Lehman

BRONX, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College men's soccer was defeated by Lehman College, 8-0, in a non-conference game at South Field on Saturday.

Trouble started early for the Gryphons, when Ronniel Menedez found the back of the net to put Lehman (2-1) in front after just four minutes of play.

For Sarah Lawrence (0-2), senior Rodrigo Cuenca (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) led the offense with three shots, all on frame, while Ishaan Pujari (Bangalore, India/Inventure Academy) tallied two shots on goal.

In the 25th minute, Abraham Enahoro gave the Lightning a 2-0 lead, and Mendez tallied his second goal in the 45th minute.
The second half saw Lehman continue to pound the nets, racking up 27 shots in the period. Arthur Da Silva got on the scorecard in the 53rd minute, while Emmanuel Adesanlu notched back-to-back goals (58', 67'). Mendez completed a hat trick in the 83rd minute, while Momar Thiam scored in the final two minutes of the 8-0 shutout.

In goal for the Gryphons, senior Uday Keith (Chandigarh, India/Woodstock School) notched eight saves, while Lehman's Alejandro Romero stopped five shots between the pipes.

Following a loss in their season opener, the Gryphons were shutout in back-to-back games for only the third time since 2010.

Sarah Lawrence returns home to host Mount Saint Vincent on Monday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Tibbetts Brook Park.
