RIVERDALE, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College basketball fell to College of Mount Saint Vincent, 89-18, in a non-conference game at the Peter Jay Sharp Center on Wednesday.
Senior
Francis Oppong (Brooklyn, N.Y., Erasmus) was the first Gryphon to put a point on the board, scoring in the second minute of the game. Classmate
John Collector (Santa Barbara, Calif., Dos Pueblos) sank an early three-pointer to make it an 8-5 game before the Dolphins pulled away. Oppong also converted a free throw late in the period.
In the second half, Collector added another trey, while Oppong made two more baskets. First-year guard
Rob Serra (Somers, N.Y., Somers) connected on his first three-point field goal of the season late in the period; he also added three assists on the day. Fellow rookie
Juan Sucre (Caracas, Venezuela, ASFM (Monterrey, Mexico)) rounded out the scoring with two points and had two assists.
Brandon Duenas (Gilbert, Ariz., Highland) had a season high 26 points for Mount Saint Vincent (4-3), while
Anthony Woods (West Palm Beach, Fla., Royal Palm) added 13 and
Seamus Douglas (Old Lyme, Conn., St. Thomas Moore Prep) contributed 11 points.
Sarah Lawrence (3-5) travels to face Bard College on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Gryphons round out the month with three games at home, beginning with a showdown against Vassar College on Monday at 8 p.m.
