Men's Soccer Tripped up by Mount Saint Vincent

YONKERS, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College men's soccer was defeated, 9-0, by College of Mount Saint Vincent in a non-conference game at Tibbetts Brook Park on Monday.

For Mount Saint Vincent (2-0), Kevin Jardines put the first goal on the scoreboard in the second minute after breaking loose down the left side. Later in the first half, CMSV added two scores in a two-minute span, as Pablo Tellez and Victor Ramirez netted goals.

Ramirez added a second goal in the 37th minute, and Eric Lara gave the Dolphins a 5-0 halftime lead by scoring with 19 ticks left in the period.

CMSV kept momentum in the second half when Joshua Zumbado corralled a deflected corner kick and found the back of the net. Jardines added his second goal in the 64th minute, and Tellez scored again in the 87th minute.

In the final minute, Ramirez rounded out his hat trick to clinch the 9-0 win for the visitors.

For Sarah Lawrence (0-3), senior Rodrigo Cuenca (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) led the offense with two shots, both on goal. SLC goalkeeper Elliott Warkus (Waimea, Hawai'i/Parker School) stopped seven shots between the posts for the Gryphons.

With the shutout lost, SLC's current scoring drought is the team's longest in five seasons.

Sarah Lawrence will play its first Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Thursday. The Gryphons play host to Vaughn College for a 5:30 p.m. game at Fleming Field.
