Men's Basketball Loses in the Opening Round of the USCAA Nationals

The ACPHS men's basketball team, who were seeded eighth, lost to the ninth seed Warren Wilson College 60-34 in the opening round of the USCAA Division II National Basketball Championships.

The Owls came out strong and outscored the Panthers 22-6 in the first nine minutes of the game. The Panthers would not go down that easy and went on a streak that would put them within five points with just 17 seconds remaining in the half. The Owls would convert two foulshots that would send them into the half up by seven.

The second half would prove to be a tough one for the Panthers. The Owls prevented the Panthers from scoring for the first 14 minutes of the half, and then outscored them 25-6 to finish the game.

Casey Redfern led the Panthers in scoring with 11 points, while Steven Brown contributed six points and 12 rebounds.

The Panthers will play a consolation game against Vermont Tech, tomorrow at 1:15pm.
