Women's 5k Results
Annandale-on Hundson, NY-Strong performance by the Lady Panther Harriers today at the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The women's team finished in 2nd place out of the 8 conference schools in the field (with Berkley College being incomplete) today at the Bard College cross country course. Freshman
Jessica Monzyk led the way for the Lady Panthers with a 1st place finish, PR, Individual Conference Title, and school record time of 18:33 on the 5k course. Junior
Michelle Staiger came in second for the Lady Panthers with a 7th place finish over all in a time of 20:49 on the 5k course. Seniors
Cassandra Izzo (11th Place 21:24, PR),
Krista Rainville (16th Place 21:44, PR), and
Amelia Sutphin (24th Place 22:51, PR) rounded out as the top five scoring runners for the Lady Panthers. Junior
Marlee Mangino (22:52, PR) and Freshman
Maeve Brennan (22:55) placed in 25
th and 26
th place respectively as the Lady Panther's two displacers to round out the top seven. Yeshiva University won the lady's conference title with 41 points to the Lady Panther's 55 Points in 2
nd place. Today marked the last conference championship meet for senior Captain's
Cassandra Izzo and
Krista Rainville.
"We knew both the men and women would be up against some tough competition today but our athletes came prepared to give their all and had an outstanding performance with several personal bests and our first ever individual conference champion." Said Assistant Coach Joanna Johnson.

Thomas Hartnett Jr. was voted 2013 HVIAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year by his colleagues today during the awards ceremony at the conference championship.
The Lady Panther Harriers will be in action next at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship Meet on November 8
th in Syracuse, NY at Drumlins Country Club.
