ALBANY, NY - The Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences men's soccer team picked up their first win by defeating SUNY Delhi 3-1. ACPHS forward
Zak Giorgi tallied two goals to fuel the Panthers first victory.
The Broncos opened the scoring at the 13:35 minute-mark when Dillon Maxson buried a cross from Joffre Portilla. The Broncos would get another four shots on net before halftime, forcing Panthers goalkeeper
Adam Hoye-Simek to make 4 saves.
The Panthers offense found life late in the second half after
Alessandro Macchiarelli buried a penalty kick to tie the match. His shot snuck in the left corner of the net, just past the outstretched hand of Broncos goalkeeper Brandon Rivera.
Giorgi gave the Panthers the lead when he tapped in a cross off a free kick by
Steve Sullivan at the 70:05 minute-mark.
Giorgi added his second goal of the match at the 87:09 minute-mark when he tapped in a 40 yard pass from
Collin Owczarzak.
Hoye-Simek finished the game with 11 saves after stonewalling the Broncos offense in the second half.
The Panthers are back in action this weekend at home for the Panther Invitational tournament. Their first match is on Saturday at 12:45 pm against King's College.
