After returning to the basketball court from a five-week layoff, the ACPHS men's basketball team earned an impressive 73-63 road win over New England College on Monday afternoon in New Hampshire.
Casey Redfern led all scorers with 23 points as he connected on six three-point baskets for the Panthers.
ACPHS started the game strong with an 8-0 run to begin the game, but that was quickly followed up by the Pilgrims who went on a 16-0 run to take an eight-point lead. The remainder of the half was fairly even as New England College went into the break with a 31-22 advantage. Early in the second half, ACPHS started to take control of the game led by the trio of Redfern,
Peter Aiken and
John Tremblay. Redfern caught fire in the second half, hitting five three-point baskets in the final 20 minutes of the game to lead ACPHS while Aiken scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Tremblay added 17 points, shooting 8-11 from the free throw line.
In the second half, the Panthers more than doubled their offensive output, putting up 51 points in the final 20 minutes, while limiting the Pilgrims to just 32 points.
With the victory, ACPHS improves to 3-7 on the season as the Panthers return to action on Friday night, traveling to Binghamton, NY to take on Davis College.
