Casey Redfern (Binghamton, NY, Chenango Forks) scored a career-high 35 points for the ACPHS men's basketball team, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers dropped a heartbreaking 87-79 decision to Adirondack Community College in overtime on Thursday night in Albany.
Right from the opening tip, Redfern quickly started to rack up the points, especially when
Peter Aiken, the second leading scorer for ACPHS, received two early fouls and had to sit on the bench for the majority of the first half. In the opening 20 minutes, Redfern scored 24 points, including connecting on three of his five three-point attempts. The Panthers went into the break leading by a score of 36-31.
The Timberwolves went on a quick run to start the second half to take the lead, and the game turned into a back and forth affair for the final 20 minutes. With the game tied and the clock running down, ACPHS had a chance to win the game, but
John Tremblay (Schenectady, NY, La Salle Institute) jump shot missed and the game went into overtime where Adirondack took early control and ACPHS was unable to claw back into the game.
For ACPHS,
Peter Aiken (Pottersville, NY, North Warren) also had a strong game, scoring 16 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds while
Tamer Elias scored 14 points.
