Huskies Dominant in Season Opener

Pottersville, NY – On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the women's Huskies soccer team opened the 2023 soccer campaign in a dominating fashion. The Huskies hosted the Vermont State-Randolph Knights for the 2 p.m. kickoff game. It did not take long for Alivia Jones to open the scoring with a goal in the 11th minute of the game, but Hailey Jeffreys added to it 48 seconds later to give Word of Life a 2-0 lead early. The Huskies scored early and quickly as Word of Life scored 5 times before the halftime whistle, which included a Hat-trick from Alivia Jones by the 31st minute. The final goal of the half was added by Brittany Mieras with just 21 seconds left.

The Knights struggled to really do anything offensively as they were only able to field a total of 9 players to begin the game, and the Huskies eventually matched them toward the end of the first half. The Huskies would add one more goal for good measure as Isabella Tanis scored in the 80th minute in part of the convincing 6-0 victory for Word of Life. Goalkeeper Joy Green earned her first Clean Sheet making 1 save on 1 shot on goal.

The Huskies' next game is Wednesday, September 13 at 5:00 PM at the Huskies Soccer Complex against North Country Community College
