Panthers Fall to Berkeley College

BOX SCORE

The ACPHS men's basketball team fell to Berkeley College by a score of 90-63 on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the regular season for both teams. With the loss, the Panthers (13-5, 4-2 Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference), will enter the upcoming HVMAC Tournament as the third seed, and will face off against St. Joseph's (NY) on Saturday in the semifinal round.

The Knights jumped all over ACPHS from the opening tip, as they took a 14-4 lead just six minutes into the game as the Panthers struggled to get their offense going all afternoon. Steven Brown had a tremendous first half for the Panthers, scoring all 17 of his points in the opening 20 minutes, but Berkeley still held a 50-39 advantage going into halftime.

In the second half, ACPHS again struggled to find any offense, as they didn't score for over six minutes to start the second half, until Emmanuel Okafor ended the drought, to pull ACPHS to within 18 points. Casey Redfern found his stroke late in the game and finished with a team-high 22 points.

The Panthers will play at 4:00 pm on Saturday against St. Joseph's (NY) in the HVMAC semifinals, a game that will be held at the College of New Rochelle, the site of both the men's and women's conference tournaments.
