Men's Basketball: New Rochelle 94, Davis 66

JOHNSON CITY, NY - The men's basketball team traveled upstate on Wednesday to face conference foe Davis College in a pivotal matchup for playoff positioning. The Blue Angels were able to capture the road win by the score of 94 to 66 behind the strength of a blistering 13 for 24 (54%) shooting performance from beyond the arc. The team now moves to 2-0 in HVIAC play, and 6 - 7 overall. It was truly a team effort, four different members of the team registered double figure totals - a first this season.

Sophomore co-captain Hunter Schenkel (Sayville, NY)led the barrage from deep by shooting five for eight from three point range en route to a game high 22 points in just 20 minutes of play. The reigning HVIAC Rookie of the Year also registered five blocks and seven rebounds on the night. Fellow co-captain Elijah Harris (Flushing, NY) joined Schenkel in pacing the team to victory by adding ten points, seven rebounds and three steals.

Jaylin Gray (Brooklyn, NY) continued his eye-opening freshman year with 12 points, six assists, three steals and one monstrous dunk that energized the team as they pulled away in the second half, winning the stanza by the score of 52 to 36. Sophomore Kobe Telford (Brooklyn, NY) joined the double-digit scoring party by adding 13 points in addition to his three rebounds.

Freshman guard Anthony Sylvester Jr (Queens, NY), coming off his Rookie of the Week performance in the conference, put up four points, three assists, three steals, and three rebounds. Fellow freshmen Justin Rivera (New York, NY) and Anthony Turnbow (Charlotte, NC) each scored eight points in the win. Elijah Robinson (New York) scored seven points.

The team will continue its conference slate of games this Saturday, January 13, when it faces SUNY-ESF at Monroe College. Tip is 6:00 PM.
