ACPHS Men's Basketball celebrated Senior Day on Saturday, with seniors Alex Johnson (Malone, NY) and Brandon Votra (Saint Regis Falls, NY) leading the Panthers to a 100-52 win over the Vaughn College Warriors. The win moved Albany to 6-2 in the HVIAC, cementing their third place position in the conference.

The Panthers started slow in this one, with Vaughn jumping out to an early lead and keeping it close for the first four minutes. But the ACPHS press started forcing turnovers at the 14 minute mark, and that's when they made their move. The Panthers went on a 16-0 run to take a 28-8 lead with 11 minutes to go in the half, and the game was never in doubt from there. Thy went into the break leading by 28 points, and stretched that lead all the way to 48 by the end of the game.

Four ACPHS four players scored in double-figures, with Votra and Johnson each scoring 18 points. Johnson added eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals, while Votra chipped in 11 boards, four assists, and two blocks. Sophomore Naythan Beltran (Reading, PA) led the team with 23 points, while junior Kyle Matousek (Jordan-Elbridge, NY) scored 21 points on 9-16 shooting. The team hit 40 of their 80 shot attempts (50%), while they held the Warriors to just 18-69 (26.1%) from the field.

Albany will most likely hold the third position in the conference and face the College of New Rochelle in the opening game of the 2018 HVIAC Conference Tournament. They will warm up for the tournament this week, starting tomorrow when they take on Fisher College at 3pm.
