ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Yeshiva University placed all five scoring runners in the top 10 and captured the team title at the 2013 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men’s cross country championships held at Bard College on Sunday afternoon.
Graduate Oliver Sax, junior Dov Levine and senior Isaac Markel finished in second, third and fifth overall to pace the Maccabees to their fourth straight conference championship, guided by 2013 HVIAC men’s cross country Coach of the Year Steve Begley, who was recognized in the post-race ceremonies.
Yeshiva bested championship runner-up Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences by a 33-point margin. Culinary Institute of America rounded out the top three, led by overall individual champion freshman Orel Anbar, who covered the 8-kilometer course in 27:04 for a 12-second victory in his first championship, beating the field of 51 runners.
The King’s College, the conference’s newest member, placed fourth in their first championship, while Sarah Lawrence, St. Joseph’s and Vaughn rounded out the scoring teams.
