NEW YORK – Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences freshman Benjamin Schmidt (Rome, N.Y.) was named Runner of the Year headlining the nine men named to the 2014 All-HVIAC Men's Cross Country Team, recognizing outstanding performances throughout the past season.
Schmidt, a two-time Player of the Week and one-time Rookie of the Week, set a new school record at the Bard Invitational and captured the overall individual title at the HVIAC Championships.
ACPHS freshman Dean Ostrofsky (Bellmor, N.Y.) was selected as the Rookie of the Year after receiving Rookie of the Week honors once this season, running a personal-best 27:46 at the Bard Invitational and finishing sixth overall at the HVIAC Championships.
Yeshiva University head coach Steve Begley repeats as Coach of the Year, guiding the Maccabees to their fifth straight conference championship.
The HVIAC All-Conference Team, Runner of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year are selected by the men's cross country coaches in the conference.
