MILTON, N.Y. – Yeshiva University took four of the top five spots and seven runners in the top 20 en route to capturing their fifth straight Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's cross country championship on Sunday afternoon at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome.

Two-time HVIAC Player of the Week freshman Benjamin Schmidt was crowned the men's individual champion, the only runner to cover the 8-kilometer course in under 30 minutes in 29:54. His 15-second victory bested the field of 43 runners and led the Albany College of Pharmacy to a runner-up finish.

Yeshiva senior Dov Levine followed in second with fellow seniors Issac Markel in third, Joseph Lipton in fourth, junior Noam Polster in fifth and junior Shuey Mirkin crossing the line in eighth overall to clinch the team title for the Maccabees.

After guiding his team to an 18-point margin of victory, Yeshiva head coach Steve Begley repeated as HVIAC Coach of the Year in post-race ceremonies.

Following second place Albany Pharmacy with 39 points in the team competition was Berkeley College (87 points), St. Joseph's (116 points) and Vaughn (121 points).
