NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The College of New Rochelle senior Jasmine Brandon was named the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball Player of the Year as the league announced the members of the All-HVIAC Women's Basketball Team at the conclusion of the 2015-16 HVIAC Tournament at the College of New Rochelle.
Brandon led the league in scoring with 20.5 points, connecting at a league-best 55.6 percent shooting, in addition to pulling down 12.7 rebounds in conference play this season. A four-time Player of the Week selection this season, Brandon posted three 30-point efforts, including a 31-point outing over King's. The forward from Jersey City, N.J. was the league's only repeat All-Conference honoree, receiving the distinction for the third time.
Pratt Institute freshman Amissa Epperson was selected as Rookie of the Year. The freshman averaged 11.0 points, 13.3 rebounds, 3.2 blocks, and 3.9 steals in conference play, leading the league in rejections. The three-time Rookie of the Week recorded six double-doubles on the season, including two in her final two league games.
In total, 12 women received All-Conference recognition for outstanding play throughout the season.
Leading Panthers to an unblemished league record and the regular season title, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences head coach Andrew Pelletier was tabbed the 2016 Coach of the Year.
The HVIAC All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year are selected by the conference’s women's basketball coaches based on regular season conference play.
