DIX HILLS, N.Y. — Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences senior Emma Webster (Cadyville, N.Y.) was named the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball Player of the Year as the league announced the members of the All-HVIAC Women's Basketball Team at the start of the 2020 HVIAC Championship at Five Towns College.
Webster, a now four-time All-HVIAC Team honoree, topped the HVIAC in scoring during conference play with 21.3 points per game while her impressive 54.3 percent mark from three-point land ranked second. She scored at least 26 points in three of four conference games including 27 on 9-17 three-point shooting with four assists and three steals in a runaway win over Vaughn.
The King's College freshman Laura Sneed (Davidson, N.C.) earned Rookie of the Year honors after averaging a double-double — 10.3 points and 12.3 rebounds — in conference play. She was all over the leaderboards as well, leading the HVIAC in blocks (1.8/gm), finishing second in rebounding, sixth in field-goal percentage (41.7), and ninth in scoring (all stats conference only).
In total, nine women received All-Conference recognition for outstanding play throughout the season and three were repeat honorees.
Leading Berkeley College to its second regular-season championship in program history, Head Coach Dondre Simmons and Assistant Coaches Candice DeRisi and Ashley Duplan have been named Coaching Staff of the Year.
The HVIAC All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coaching Staff of the Year are selected by the conference’s women's basketball coaches based on regular-season conference play.
