2010 Tournament Champions

College of New Rochelle

The College of New Rochelle Blue Angels repeat as conference champions in perhaps the closest season in HVWAC Volleyball history where nearly half the conference matches were decided in five sets.  After rolling past Pratt in the semifinals, New Rochelle had to come from behind twice against a gritty St. Joseph’s team who upset Sarah Lawrence in the semi-finals, overtaking them in five sets behind a strong service game that produced 23 aces.

Sophomore   •  Outside Hitter  •  Plano, TX (John Paul II)

Elizabeth Johnston earns Tournament MVP honors amassing 25 kills with a tournament-leading .276 hitting percentage and 10 service aces.  In the fourth and fifth sets of the championship, Johnston shone, putting away nine kills (compared to St. Joseph’s eight) committing only one error.

Coach of the Year

Matthew Cribbin  •  Sarah Lawrence College

Sarah Lawrence Head Coach Matthew Cribbin was selected by his peers as Coach of the Year for the third straight year, every year he’s been at the helm.  Cribbin has shown progression each year guiding the Gryphons up the conference standings, capturing the regular season title this season.
