COUGARS FALL TO JOHN JAY IN 2013 HOME OPENER

Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Women's Volleyball Cougars played in front of a raucous crowd of 120 people. It was their 2013 Home Opener. The John Jay Bloodhounds came to Brooklyn looking for their 1st victory of 2013. MEC played hard but fell to the Bloodhounds 3-0 (16-25, 13-25, and 12-25). The Cougars drop to 1-6 Overall and 0-3 CUNYAC while John Jay improves to 1-7 Overall and 1-2 CUNYAC.

The Cougars tallied 13 kills but committed 15 errors. In the loss, the Cougars were led by Senior Outside Hitter Janiece Hill with 5 kills on 18 total attacks. Hill added 4 digs and a blocking assist. Sophomore Setter Nina Bernadine-White recorded 7 assists. Freshman Kalifa Roberts tallied 4 service aces and led the team with 8 digs.

John Jay College was led by Martina Hot with 6 kills.

The Cougars will be back in action on Thursday, September 19, 2013, when they travel to borough rival Brooklyn College. Game time is 6pm.
