Box Score

GLEN COVE, N.Y. - The Yeshiva University men's volleyball team won its second-straight match, and moved to 4-0 in Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) play with a straight-sets triumph at Webb Institute (25-19, 25-9, 25-16) on Thursday night.

One more victory in conference play by the Maccabees (6-16, 4-0), or one more loss by Webb Institute (0-1, 0-1) would clinch at least a share of YU's fourth-straight, regular-season HVMAC title. The two teams will play the return match of the home-and-home set at Yeshiva's Max Stern Athletic Center on Wednesday (Mar. 20) at 8 p.m., and the conference tournament will be hosted by YU on April 11 (semifinals: 6 p.m.; finals: approx. 8 p.m.).

Junior setter Adam Rhodes (Los Angeles, Calif.) passed out 36 assists to lead a balanced Macs offense, and was one of three players on the squad to put down six kills (error-free seven attempts). Senior co-captain Elchanan Margolis (Toronto, Ont.) added six kills to go with two service aces, while senior middle blocker Daniel Lapson (Skokie, Ill.) registered a 6-1-18 hitting line to go with two aces and a solo block.

A trio of Yeshiva players -- senior co-captain Jared Rechnitz (Los Angeles, Calif.; two SA), junior middle Menachem Goldstein (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore opposite Eliakim Gartenberg (Teaneck, N.J.; 4-0-6) -- each slammed four kills, while junior Aaron Begin (Los Angeles, Calif.) and freshman Jorge Dabah (Miami, Fla.) both registered five digs apiece in the back row.

Head coach Arnold Ross's YU side rounds out its week with a Sunday morning (Mar. 17) tri-match at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn. The Macs are slated to take on the host Cougars at 11 a.m., before squaring off with Washington Adventist University at approximately 1 p.m.
