LaPLUME, Pa.—In a tough weekend for the Gryphons, Sarah Lawrence College women's volleyball was bested in three matches at the Keystone College Quad Match on Friday and Saturday. SLC was swept, 3-0, in non-conference matches to Wilkes University, New Jersey City University and the host Giants during the two-day event.

On Friday, Sarah Lawrence (2-13) was tripped up by Wilkes (6-7) by a score of 25-7, 25-9, 25-12. Gryphons Jenai Richards (Kailua, Hawai'i/St. Andrew's Priory), Jomana Abdallah (Los Angeles, Calif./Fairmont Prep Academy) and Clarisse Taboy (Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia/George School) shared the attack with the Green and White's top kills in the match.

SLC squared off against NJCU (5-9) on Saturday morning. In a re-match of last weekend's showdown, NJCU again swept the Gryphons, 25-18, 25-19, 25-8. Sarah Lawrence took a 8-7 lead in the second set thanks to a Lin Zhu (Chengdu, China/Chengdu No. 7) service ace, but the Gothic Knights regained control and cruised to the win. Richards, Abdallah and Taboy again shared the honor of SLC's top attacker.

The weekend concluded with SLC taking on host Keystone (8-7). The Giants put down the challenge with little difficulty, winning 25-6, 25-11, 25-10. Abdallah anchored the offense with four kills, while Zhu led the defense with six digs.

SLC setter Janet Tonyan (McHenry, Ill./McHenry) notched 20 assists and two service aces in the three matches, while Tonyan, Taboy and Yolanda Lyne Cando (Arlington, Va./H-B Woodlawn) totaled double-digit digs. Tonyan was selected to the event's All-Tournament team.

Sarah Lawrence heads to Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent College of New Rochelle on Tuesday before returning home to host non-conference foe Lehman College on Friday.
