Men's Cross Country Hits the Trail at MSMC Invite

Race Results

NEWBURGH, N.Y.—
Sarah Lawrence College men's cross country made strides at the MSMC Knight Invite, hosted by Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday. The Gryphon harriers took 14th-place in the field of NCAA Division II and Division III squads.

On the tough 8K course, first-year runner Caleb Jaster (New Hampton, N.H., Sant Bani) led the Gryphons, clocking in at 33:35. Jaster's 70th-place finish was in the top half of the field of over 150 runners. Sophomore Asher Morse (Falls Church, Va., George Mason) was Sarah Lawrence's next runner across the line, setting a season best of 35:39.

Sophomore Riley Smith (West Linn, Ore., Palo Alto (Calif.)) came to the finish in 37:02, while first-year runner Cassidy Bernstein (Brooklyn, N.Y./The Beekman School) made the best of his first-ever collegiate race by clocking in at 42:07. Classmate Ben LoPiccolo (Foster, R.I., Ponaganset) rounded out the Gryphons' efforts, arriving at the line in 43:49.

Though the rigorous course made it difficult to set personal bests, Sarah Lawrence's performance as a team was sufficient to best local rival Concordia College, which took 15th as a team.

Sarah Lawrence returns to action next weekend, as the Gryphons head to the RPI Saratoga Invitational on Sat., Oct. 6. The race is scheduled to start at noon.
