Men's Cross Country Competes at Saratoga Invite

Race Results

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.
—On Saturday, Sarah Lawrence College men's cross country competed at the Saratoga Invitational, hosted by RPI. After an eventful journey to Saratoga Springs, the Gryphons managed a 16th-place finish among a competitive field of runners on the 8K course.

The day began ominously as mechanical difficulties stalled the Gryphons' trip to the race course, forcing Sarah Lawrence's squad to compete with an abbreviated warmup.

For the fourth week in a row, first-year runner Caleb Jaster (New Hampton, N.H., Sant Bani) led the way for Sarah Lawrence. His time of 31:55.9 beat out his previous best (32:50) by nearly a full minute. In only his second collegiate race, Cassidy Bernstein was the second Gryphon across the line, clocking in at 34:04.7.

Sophomore Asher Morse (Falls Church, Va., George Mason) finished the race with a mark of 36:23.1, while classmate Riley Smith (West Linn, Ore., Palo Alto (Calif.)) kept pace and set a new personal best with his time of 36:38.4. First-year runner Ben LoPiccolo (Foster, R.I., Ponaganset) rounded out the Sarah Lawrence squad with a personal best of 41:32.0.

Sarah Lawrence has just two races remaining in the season. The Gryphons will compete at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday as the final tune up before the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference Championship on October 21.
