Women's Soccer Dismissed by St. Joseph's

Box Score
PATCHOGUE, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College women's soccer was knocked off by St. Joseph's College-Long Island, 4-0, in a non-conference game at Danzi Stadium on Tuesday.

St. Joseph's (9-4) got on the scoreboard in just the third minute. Jacklyn Hughes fired a shot that was saved by SLC keeper Tori Close (Greenwich, Conn./Westtown School (Pa.)), but the rebound found Hughes again for the put-back to give the Lady Golden Eagles a 1-0 advantage.

Close, who made her varsity debut in goal for Sarah Lawrence (1-7), stopped the next eight shots fired her way. SJC's Emily Garcia doubled the lead in the 32nd minute, and after three straight saves by Close, Kathryn Condron put away another goal in the 39th minute.

Shortly before the break, St. Joseph's Condron assisted Lauren Heschl, who netted the final goal of the half in the 43rd minute, giving the hosts a 4-0 lead at halftime.

After a flurry of 27 Lady Golden Eagle shots in the first half, St. Joseph's was pacified in the second period, recording only one shot. The Gryphons were held without a shot in the game, while Close finished with 15 saves.

Sarah Lawrence next travels to College of Staten Island on Thursday and rounds out the week with a trip to Rutgers University – Camden on Saturday. The Gryphons next return home on Wednesday, Oct. 16 for a showdown against Lehman College at 7 p.m.
