The ACPHS Women's soccer team traveled to Syracuse on Saturday to play SUNY ESF in a game under the lights at Onondaga Community College.
The USCAA opponents, who tied 1-1 in 2012, fought throughout the first half but neither team was able to find the back of the net.
The Panthers were fired up in the second half, and with 32 minutes remaining in the half Freshman
Kayli Smith slipped a ball through the Oaks defense to
Sarah Cope who scored on a breakaway.
As the clock ran down, the Panthers battled to hold onto the lead but the Oaks wouldn't back down. With 3:19 remaining in the game Bridget Cuddihy evened the score with a breakaway goal of her own.
Two ten minute overtime periods would see both teams fight for possession but neither would score the golden goal to leave the score 1-1.
Freshman Keeper,
Amy Jagareski was solid in goal and tallied 15 saves to keep the Panthers in the game.
The Panthers remain undefeated with a record of 3-0-1 and will face MCLA at home in a non-conference match up on Tuesday at 4:30pm.
