Match Results

BROOKLYN, N.Y.
—Though reigning HVIAC Player of the Week Autumn Atkinson (Manasquan, N.J./George School) preserved her undefeated ledger, Sarah Lawrence College women's tennis was defeated at Brooklyn College, 7-2, in a non-conference match at Roosevelt Courts on Saturday.

In doubles play, Brooklyn (3-0) stole the No. 1 match by an 8-0 margin, while the Bulldogs also took the No. 2 match, 8-2.

At No. 3 doubles, Atkinson and partner Juliet Slade (St. Paul, Minn./Central) triumphed by an 8-5 margin to cut the Brooklyn lead to 2-1 after pairs play. Atkinson and Slade remain undefeated as a partnership and entered the weekend as the reigning Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

In singles play, BC's Yuliya Orkis recorded her second shutout of the day with a win in the No. 1 match, while Ekaterina Mospanova blanked her Gryphon foe in the No. 2 slot.

Brooklyn clinched the match with wins in the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles matches.

Atkinson came through for the second time of the day, earning a second point for the Green and White in the No. 5 singles position. The Manasquan, N.J. native won her match 6-2, 6-3 to cut the final deficit to 7-2.

Sarah Lawrence was originally scheduled to return to the courts to face NYU-Poly on Sunday; that match has been canceled. The Gryphons are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to face HVIAC opponent Vaughn College at 6 p.m. at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
