BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—Despite a stellar day by rookie Autumn Atkinson (Manasquan, N.J./George School), Sarah Lawrence College women's tennis fell to College of Staten Island, 7-2, in a non-conference match at Andrews Tennis Courts on Friday.

Sarah Lawrence (5-7) put one point in the board in doubles play. Atkinson and partner Juliet Slade (St. Paul, Minn./Central) improved to 11-0 on the season by winning the No. 3 point by an 8-4 margin. Staten Island (11-1) took the lead in the team scoring by winning the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches.

In singles play, the Dolphins' strength prevailed, as the visitors captured five of the six individual matches to clinch the team victory. Reigning Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week Atkinson scored SLC's only singles point, winning the No. 3 spot by a score of 10-3. Atkinson improved to 9-2 in singles play, including wins in her last five matches.

Sarah Lawrence hosts HVIAC opponent St. Joseph's College Brooklyn on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Andrews Tennis Courts.
