The Berkeley College men's basketball team continued its recent stellar play, winning its seventh and eighth games in a row this past weekend by defeating the University of Maine at Fort Kent by a score of 71-68 on Saturday afternoon, and the University of Maine at Presque Isle in blowout fashion by the final of 86-55 on Sunday. With the wins, the Knights are now 15-4 on the 2018-2019 campaign.

Over the past five season (dating back to the 2014-2015 campaign), the Knights are a combined 42-0 in games played in February and March.

The Knights' victory over the Bengals of Maine Fort Kent was a grind, as the high-octane offense of Berkeley College was held to just 71 points. On the flip side, the Knights' defense was outstanding. The Bengals have served as terrific competition for Berkeley in recent years. In the teams' last four meetings, the Knights have recorded three, six, seven, and one point victories over Maine Fort Kent.

Berkeley's win over the Owls of Maine Presque Isle was dominant. Leading the way for the Knights in the triumph was Nicholas Cora, as he drilled nine of his 14 attempts from the floor to finish with a game-high 20 points. He also contributed five rebounds, three steals, and a pair of assists in just 19 minutes.

Ricardo Ayuso played 14 minutes and finished with 11 points, two caroms, two steals, and a swatted shot, and Shamiek Sheppard and Anthony Hemingway finished with 10 points apiece. Hemingway also recorded a game-high seven assists.

Despite the loss for the Owls, the University of Maine at Presque Isle was led by Griffin Guerrette, as he scored 14 points, tallied a team-high five assists, and pulled down three rebounds.

Berkeley College will finish the season with a four-game homestand, starting tomorrow evening with a showdown with the College of New Rochelle in what will be a rematch of the last two HVIAC title games. The game will take place at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. Start-time is scheduled for 8:00pm.
