Warriors Stunned By New School

The Vaughn College Warriors suffered a surprising 76-73 defeat to New School on Saturday, February 1. The Warriors entered the non-conference game coming off a tough loss to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on Friday night. In the first match-up between the two teams in early November the Warriors dominated New School. They defeat the Narwhals 88-67.

Similar to the first game against New School, the Warriors trailed the Narwhals at halftime. Despite outscoring the Narwhals in the second half, the Warriors found themselves in a one possession game in the final seconds of regulation. The Warriors trailed the Narwhals by three points and missed two opportunities to tie the score and send the game into overtime. Kemarlie McLean (Brooklyn, NY) missed a clean three-point attempt from the corner with eight seconds remaining. Gurjeet Gargaria (Queens, NY) grabbed the offensive rebound and passed the ball to Louis Roche (Carteret, NJ) who shot a three from the wing as time expired. Roche's three-pointer rimmed in-and-out to end the game.

Marcus Heron (Yonkers, NY) finished with a game-high 31 points and five steals. This was Heron's third 30 point performance this season. McLean added 19 points and four rebounds. Roche chipped in 15 points in the loss.
