Race Results
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Sarah Lawrence College men's cross country continued its season by competing at the LIU Post Invitational on Saturday. Four harriers represented the Gryphons in a field of student-athletes that included NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III schools.
First-year runner
Caleb Jaster (New Hampton, N.H., Sant Bani) led the way for the Gryphons, finishing the 8 km course in 32:50.9. Jaster showed clockwork precision in his pacing and improved his time by 1:41 over last week's race of the same distance. Despite the tough competition around him, he showed the ability to run his own race and will likely continue to represent Sarah Lawrence's top runner in coming races.
Despite some misdirection on the tricky course, Sarah Lawrence's remaining runners posted solid times. Sophomore
Riley Smith (Palo Alto, Calif., Palo Alto) finished second among the Gryphons in his first collegiate race, clocking in at 41:35.3, while first-year runners
Rahul Dhakal (Kathmandu, Nepal, Woodstock School) and
Ben LoPiccolo (Foster, R.I., Ponaganset) rounded out the team's efforts in times of 41:57.9 and 41:59.5, respectively.
Sarah Lawrence hits the trail again next weekend with a trip to the Bard College Invitational on Sat., Sept. 22.
