Men's Panther Harriers Finish 2nd at HVIAC Championships

Annandale-on Hundson, NY-Strong performance by the Men's Panther Harriers today at the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The men's team finished in 2nd place out of the 7 conference schools in the field (with Pratt Institute & Berkley College being incomplete) today at the Bard College cross country course. Freshm Matthew Crough led the way for the Men's Panthers with a 4th place finish with a time of 27:31 on the 8k course. Freshman Matthew Kaczmarek came in second for the Men's Panthers with a 7th place finish over all, and PR, in a time of 27:55 on the 8k course.  Ronald Ta (13th Place 29:34, PR), Gavin O'Brien (20th Place 30:07, PR), and David Considine (21st Place 30:17, PR) rounded out as the top five scoring runners for the Men's Panthers. Sophomore Christopher Hunter (31:05, PR) and Junior Brian Alapatt (31:20, PR) placed in 24th and 26th place respectively as the Men's Panther's two displacers to round out the top seven. Yeshiva University won the men's conference title with 29 points to the Men's Panther's 62 Points in 2nd place. Today marked the last conference championship meet for senior Captain Ronald Ta.

"We knew both the men and women would be up against some tough competition today but our athletes came prepared to give their all and had an outstanding performance with several personal bests and our first ever individual conference champion." Said Assistant Coach Joanna Johnson.

"The men's squad did a great job today at the conference championships and cemented their position as an up and coming team within the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Most of our runners had PRs and four members of the men's squad received medals. I look forward to carrying the momentum from today's race to the USCAA National Meet in November" Said Head Coach Thomas Hartnett Jr.

The Men's Panther Harriers will be in action next at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship Meet on November 8th in Syracuse, NY at Drumlins Country Club.
