In a perennial matchup, Sarah Lawrence College women's tennis was bested by Bard College, 7-2, in a non-conference match at Stevenson Athletic Center Courts on Saturday.

In doubles play, Bard (4-1) took the No. 1 position by an 8-4 margin and stole the No. 2 showdown, 8-5. Sarah Lawrence (3-2) recovered a point in the No. 3 match with rookies Caroline Harrison (Galloway, N.J./Absegami) and Sarah Pyatt (Taos, N.M./Taos) winning, 8-4. The Gryphons remain undefeated at the No. 3 doubles position this year, and trailed Bard, 2-1, heading into singles play.

At No. 1 singles, SLC's Nora Landes (Los Angeles, Calif./Cleveland Humanities Magnet) faced a challenging Bard opponent and dropped the first set, 6-2. In the second set, she forced a tiebreak but eventually lost the match, 6-2, 7-6(7-0).

Two-time Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week Autumn Atkinson (Manasquan, N.J./George School) preserved her undefeated singles record with a comfortable 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 3 singles position.

The Raptors were formidable in individual play, taking five of the six points to clinch the 7-2 team victory, defeating the Gryphons for the third-straight season.

Sarah Lawrence's road trip continues Sunday, when the Gryphons head to face Mount Saint Mary College at 1 p.m.
