Men’s Basketball Team Hits Triple Digits in Cannoneers Win

The Mighty Oaks men's basketball team hit a season-high 100 points in its 100-79 victory over Pratt Institute on Sunday, Dec. 8 at Onondaga Community College.

The win improved the team's record to 5-3 and gave the Mighty Oaks the highest overall winning percentage of any Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team after eight starts.

Four players hit double digits in the victory led by junior Zach Dormer's 28 points. Dormer shot a scorching 77 percent from the floor by going 10 for 13 and was equally as impressive from the charity stripe sinking seven of eight. The Mighty Oaks were consistent throughout the game with their floor shooting after finishing at 54 percent in both halves.

A pair of Dormer free throws gave ESF its first double-digit lead at 41-31 with about four minutes left in the first half. The Cannoneers closed the gap to eight at the intermission at 51-43.

The Mighty Oaks started the second half with a 15-6 run to take a commanding 66-49 lead and never looked back.

Joining Dormer with double-digit performances were junior Henry Pflaumer (20 points), sophomore Logan Ameele (17 points) and junior Cole Paradies with 16 points. Paradies also led the team in rebounds with nine and assists with six.

Both Pratt and ESF entered the game with four wins each on the season. The Mighty Oaks return to the court in January 2020 with four road games in six days starting with Houghton (Jan. 4) and ending with Onondaga Community College (Jan. 9) before hosting Five Towns College in HVIAC play on Jan. 18.
