New York, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team snapped a three match losing streak on Tuesday night with a 3-1 Skyline Conference victory at Yeshiva. The Dolphins took the match by scores of 25-21, 25-16, 20-25 and 25-11. Seniors
Joe Ecock (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and
Mark Sargente (Commack, N.Y.) combined for 29 of the team's 51 kills on the night.
Sargente matched his career-high in kills in the match with 15 winners for the Dolphins and hit .290 for the night. He also recorded one of the team's nine service aces to go along with three digs and a total block.
Ecock also matched his career-mark in winners against the Maccabees with 14 on Tuesday, while hitting an impressive .391. He rounded out the night with an ace, a total block and four digs for the Dolphins.
Senior captain
Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, N.Y.) finished the night match with nine kills for the Mount and he also lifted seven digs, while posting a match-high five service aces.
Timothy Kolodny (Woodland Hills, Calif.) contributed a match-high 19 digs to the winning effort.
Michael Sin (Hicksville, N.Y.) continued his steady play for Mount Saint Vincent against Yeshiva with 27 assists and a pair of kills. He rounded out the night with two aces and two digs for the Dolphins.
Brett Holiday (Stratford, N.J.) and
Roosevelt Castillo (Bronx, N.Y.) each collected two blocks in the match.
The Maccabees were paced by 13 kills from Raphael Herskovits who committed just one attack error on his way to hitting an impressive .462 in the contest. Adam Rhodes passed out 24 assists for Yeshiva and David Wagner led the way with 14 digs.
Overall in the match, Mount Saint Vincent hit .308 as a team and picked up 51 kills to 28 for Yeshiva. Yeshiva lifted 56 digs in the match and total team blocks on the night were even at five apiece.
The win improves Mount Saint Vincent's overall record to 3-5 on the season and its Skyline Conference mark to 2-4. Next up for the Dolphins is a trip to #2 Springfield on Friday night. The match with the Pride is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
