ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—Led by a repeat runner-up performance by
Mary Kauffman (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead), Sarah Lawrence College women's cross country took fourth place at the 2013 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Championship at Bard College on Sunday.
Kauffman paced the Gryphons with a program-record time of 18:37 on the 5K course, earning second place in the overall standings. The effort was a personal best by a 26-second margin, and the effort was 2:26 faster than her runner-up performance at the 2012 HVWAC Championship.
Three additional SLC harriers were medalists, finishing among the top 20 in the field.
Rookie
Natalie Grieco (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Fenwick) took 43 seconds off her personal best to finish in eighth place with a time of 20:53. Junior
Elizabeth Emery (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) crossed the line in 19th place, stopping the clock at 21:55, while sophomore
Pauline Stanfiel (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) followed closely behind in 21:59, winning a sprint for 20th.

Hillary Bernhardt (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) improved her personal best by nearly two minutes, winning a dash for 28th place overall.
Katie Zimmermann (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) was the next Gryphon across, taking 50th place with a performance of 26:16. Making her collegiate debut, rookie
Melissa Molina (Union, N.J./Union) finished in 55th place at 26:48.
Sarah Lawrence is scheduled to conclude its season at the Nick Russo Halloween Classic, hosted by NJIT on Sunday, Nov. 3.
