Service Game Lifts Men's Volleyball Past Sarah Lawrence in HVMAC Opener, 3-0

NEW YORK - The Yeshiva University men's volleyball team picked up a three-set victory in its Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) Tuesday night at Max Stern Athletic Center, using 10 service aces and a .188 hitting percentage to turn aside visiting Sarah Lawrence College by scores of 25-6, 25-13, and 25-18.

Nine Maccabees (2-4, 1-0 HVMAC) picked up points in the triumph, including junior setter Adam Rhodes (Los Angeles, Calif.), who dished out 18 assists while jump-serving his way to a match-best three service aces. Sophomore middle blocker Benjamin Mann (Brooklyn, N.Y.; team-high five kills, .375 hitting pct.) and senior outside hitter Jared Rechnitz (Los Angeles, Calif.; team-high-tying seven digs) put down two aces apiece for YU, while senior outside hitter Elchanan Margolis (Toronto, Ont.) and junior defensive specialist Aaron Begin (Los Angeles, Calif.) registered four kills and seven digs, respectively.

The Gryphons (0-3, 0-1 HVMAC) were paced by Harrison Holmes's match-best eight kills.

Head coach Arnold Ross's Yeshiva side is back in Skyline Conference action Thursday night (Dec. 7), when it travels to Albany, N.Y., for a 7 p.m. first serve at The Sage Colleges' Kahl Center.
