2007 Tournament MVP
Carlos Vasques • Berkeley College - Junior • Guard • New York, NY (Nuestra Sr. de la Paz)
After losing twice to HVMAC Regular Season Champion St. Joseph’s during the 2006-07 season, Head Coach Chris Christensen and the Berkeley College Knights knew they needed a spark to overcome at St. Joseph’s team seeking their 21st win in the HVMAC Final. They got it in the form of Carlos Vasquez, who scored 21 points on 7 for 11 shooting, including four clutch three-pointers, as Berkeley overcame a late St. Joseph’s comeback, and then outscored the Bears 17-16 in overtime to claim their second straight HVMAC Title.
2006-07 Coach of the Year
Joseph Cocozello • St. Joseph's College
He has won an incredible 41 games during the last two seasons, by far the most of any HVMAC Basketball Head Coach, and for an outstanding 2006-07 campaign, St. Joseph’s College’s Joe Cocozello is the Conference Coach of the Year … and the selection was unanimous. Under Cocozello’s leadership, the Bears captured their second straight HVMAC Regular Season Championship, sweeping the season 6-0 with only one game that was decided by fewer than 10 points. Despite a loss in the HVMAC Tournament Championship Game, SJC enjoyed one of the finest seasons in HVMAC hoops history.
