DIX HILLS, N.Y. — Five Towns College junior guard Kyree Sawyer (Bay Shore, N.Y.) was named the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Year as the league announced the members of the All-HVIAC Men's Basketball Team at the start of the 2020 HVIAC Tournament at Five Towns College.

Sawyer did it all for the Sound pacing them to a third-place finish in their first season as a member of the conference, leading the league with 24.3 points per game against HVIAC opponents while averaging 7.9 boards and 3.7 assists across seven conference games. His season-high of 34 points came on 15-20 shooting in a 105-81 win over King's.

A two-time Rookie of the Week, Vaughn College freshman Marcus Heron (Yonkers, N.Y.) was selected as the league's Rookie of the Year after leading his team in most major categories and placing second in the HVIAC with 23.4 PPG in league contests while his 42.9 percent mark from three came in second.

In total, 14 men received All-Conference recognition for outstanding play throughout the season and two are repeat honorees.

Guiding the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to their first top-two finish since the 2009-10 season, Head Coach Brett Barnard and Assistant Coach Craig Tynan were selected as Coaching Staff of the Year.

The HVIAC All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coaching Staff of the Year are selected by the conference's men's basketball coaches based on regular season conference play.
