Erickson Leads All-HVIAC Men's Tennis Team as Player of the Year

FLUSHING, N.Y. — Pratt Institute sophomore Ben Erickson (Minneapolis, Minn.) was named the 2018 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year as the league announced the members of the 2018 All-HVIAC Men’s Tennis Team today at the season-ending tournament.

Erickson, a three-time Player of the Week, went undefeated in league play at the top of the Cannoneers lineup compiling perfect 4-0 records at the No. 1 singles and doubles positions. 

Culinary Institute of America Wonil Chung (Seongnam, South Korea) and Pratt junior Aris Azarmsa (Palo Alto, Calif) were named co-Rookies of the Year. Chung went undefeated dropped just one match in league play going 5-0 in singles and 4-1 in doubles. Azarmsa posted a 3-1 marks at both singles and doubles in HVIAC action.

Vaughn College's Joseph Swierczewski was named Coach of the Year, his first time receiving the honor.

Nine men were honored by the conference for outstanding play throughout the season and two were repeat honorees.

The HVIAC All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year Awards are selected by the men's tennis coaches in the conference.
