NEW YORK – SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry senior Michael Persson (Denville, N.Y.) was named the 2016 HVIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year, leading 18 men named to the 2016 All-HVIAC Men's Cross Country Team.

Persson captured the individual title at the 2016 HVIAC Championships with the fastest time (28:12) in the championship's history since contested at Hudson Valley Sportsdome. The two-time Runner of the Week this season highlighted the regular season with a season-best 8K time of 27:03 at the SUNY Geneseo Invitational and also took third place in a field of 113 at the SUNY Polytechnic Invite.

Berkeley College freshman Anthony Argueta (Fairview, N.J.) was selected as 2016 Rookie of the Year and went on to finish fourth in the championships. The two-time Runner of the Week and one-time Rookie of the Week, posted a season-best 8K time of 28:02 in the Bard College Invitational, finishing 14th overall.

SUNY ESF Head Coach John View was tabbed the 2016 Coach of the Year, an honor he also received last season.

The HVIAC Runner of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year are selected by the men's cross country coaches in the conference based on outstanding performance during the regular season.
