McClenahan Named Runner of the Year as All-HVIAC Men's Cross Country Team Unveiled

NEW YORK – SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry freshman Mark McClenahan (Doylestown, Pa.) was named the 2017 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Runner of the Year, leading 16 men named to the 2017 All-HVIAC Men's Cross Country Team.

McClenahan posted the fastest times of the year received four Runner of the Week and one Rookie of the Week awards this season. He helped lead the Mighty Oaks to the team title at the Morrisville State Invitational and smashed an ESF freshman record at the SUNY Geneseo Invitational running 26:49.

Berkeley College freshman Joshua Williams was selected as Rookie of the Year. Williams highlighted his season with a season-best 5K time of 32:30 at the NJIT Highlander Challenge.

First-year SUNY ESF head coach Mike Melfi was tabbed the 2017 Coach of the Year.

The HVIAC Runner of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year are selected by the women's cross country coaches in the conference prior to the HVIAC Championships based on performance during the regular season.
