HYDE PARK, N.Y. – King's College sophomore Genesis Castrellon (Encinitas, Calif.) was named the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year as the league announced the members of the All-HVIAC Women’s Soccer Team at the conclusion of the 2014 HVIAC Tournament.

Castrellon claimed the inaugural Player of the Year award after finishing second in the conference in goals (29) and points (69) as well as third in assists (11), while claiming Player of the Week honors three times this season.

Teammate Aleena Cruz (Chula Vista, Calif.) received Rookie of the Year honors after leading the league with 14 assists while netting 14 goals, three of them game-winners. 

In total, 13 women were honored with All-Conference recognition for outstanding play throughout the season. Six were repeat winners.

Berkeley College head coach Michael Butler was selected as the 2014 Coach of the Year.

The HVIAC All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year are selected by the conference’s women’s soccer coaches based on regular season conference play.
