ALBANY, N.Y. – Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences freshman Katie Benson (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry junior Heather Carl (Greenville, N.Y.) were named Co-Players of the Year as the league announced the members of the 2015 All-HVIAC Women’s Soccer Team at the conclusion of the HVIAC Tournament.
Benson, a two-time Player of the Week this season, led the league in goals (27)—12 coming in conference play—and ranked second in points (60). The freshman forward recorded five hat tricks this season and had three game-winning goals.
Carl, a one-time Player of the Week honoree, ranked third in the league in goals (13) and had a streak of eight consecutive games with a goal scored.
Albany College of Pharmacy freshman Erin Tersegno was named the Rookie of the Year. The two-time Player of the Week and three-time Rookie of the Week led the league in points (65) and assists (13) with a second-best 26 goals.
SUNY-ESF head coach Dan Ramin was named Coach of the Year. Ramin led the Mighty Oaks—currently ranked a No. 2 in the USCAA Coaches Poll—to a 10-1-2 mark overall in his first season in the league.
In total, 11 women were honored with the All-HVIAC recognition for outstanding play throughout the season and three were repeat winners.
The HVIAC All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year are selected by the conference’s women’s soccer coaches based on regular season conference play.
