ALBANY, N.Y. — Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences senior Erin Tersegno (Webster, N.Y.) was named Player of the Year and SUNY ESF freshman Rachael Foote (Arcade, N.Y.) was picked as Rookie of the Year as the members of the 2018 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference Women’s Soccer Team were announced at the HVIAC Tournament yesterday.
Tersegno netted a pair of hat-tricks and finished with six goals and six assists in league play, helping the Panthers to the regular season title. The senior striker finished with a league-leading 13 goals, 10 assists, and 36 points.
Foote was a workhorse as the only holding center midfielder and played every minute of every game this season. Behind her efforts, the Oaks surrendered just two goals in league play and a league-low 14 goals overall.
Steering the Panthers to their fifth regular-season title, Christine Kanawada and Jonathan Woodrow of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences were named Coaching Staff of the Year.
In total, 11 women were honored with the All-HVIAC recognition for outstanding play throughout the regular season and three were repeat winners with Albany Pharmacy senior Katie Benson graduating as a four-time honoree.
The HVIAC All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year are selected by the conference’s women’s soccer coaches based on regular season conference play.
