Dix Hills, NY - The Five Towns College women's soccer team opened its inaugural season Saturday afternoon against the SUNY ESF Mighty Oaks. The three-time defending HVIAC Champions outpaced Five Towns as the Sound faced a returning 2018 All-HVIAC player Alyssa Hughes and the 2018 HVIAC Rookie of the Year Rachel Foote.

SUNY ESF's Kelly Cooper opened up the scoring in the 12th minute of the game when she scored off a corner kick from Mallory DeLanoy, finishing upper left from just inside the 18-yard box. A goal from McKenna Pason followed within the next minute of play. Five Towns trailed 7-0 at the half.

Jennifer Xiong took the team's only shot opportunity of the game five minutes into the second half. Xiong trapped a lose ball 30 yards out and came one-on-one with the goalie before striking the ball off the left post. The Might Oaks scored three more goals in the second half to shutout the Sound 10-0.

The team will return to action Wednesday, September 11th at Monroe College.
