2007 Regular Season & Tournament Champions

St. Joseph's College

2007 Tournament MVP

MAGDALENA WIECEK - St. Joseph’s - Sr. - Outside Hitter - Queens, NY (Grover Cleveland)

When St. Joseph’s senior Magdalena Wiecek slammed home her 19th and final kill during a 3-0 win over Mount Saint Vincent to lead St. Joseph’s College to their fourth straight HVWAC Tournament Championship on Nov. 3, volleyball coaches all across the country breathed a collective sigh of relief, as one of the greatest volleyball players to ever grace an HVWAC court capped off a simply stellar career. An obvious choice for Tournament MVP, Wiecek averaged four kills, 1.55 digs, and 1.11 service aces per game during the three-match tournament. During a senior season in which she will likely earn USCAA All- American honors, Wiecek averaged an incredible 4.67 kills, 2.15 digs, and 0.57 service aces per game while hitting an unbelievable .335.

2007 Coach of the Year

ROSE DEINNOCENTIIS - College of Staten Island

Every time College of Staten Island Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Rose DeInnocentiis takes leads her Dolphins to the floor it seems as if the program is reaching new heights and challenging for conference supremacy. During the 2006 season, CSI entered the playoffs as one of the hottest teams in the HVWAC after a mid-season string of wins put the Dolphins on the map. The 2007 season saw CSI not only finish only one win below .500 (11-12), but the Dolphins advanced to the HVWAC Final Four for the first time ever after pulling off the upset of the year during a 3-2 win over #4 Medgar Evers in the HVWAC Quarterfinals on Nov. 2. While the Dolphins were swept a day later by eventual champion St. Joseph’s, with only one graduating senior on the roster, the successes of 2007 are only the beginning for CSI.
